Models and Textures
For this piece, I wanted textures to be the strongest part of the project, in order to do justice to the beautiful, natural vibrancy of RES Turtle scales. Rather than using Substance Painter or nodes for this project, I rather cut the model UV’s in a way that would be easy to paint flat textures on in procreate.
The painterly strokes on the body of the turtle as well as the rock he sits on bled into texturing the water, where I wanted to further break reality and push the style. Using bold strokes of turquoise, pink, and purple, the water was successful in making sense in the set while simultaneously pushing an artistic style.
