Mountain Road: Inspiration

After being provided a prop model of a Kombi van, or perhaps more colloquially known as a “hippie van”, I was immediately reminded of my childhood in northern New England. I’ve spent my winters growing up ice skating, snow tubing, and of course skiing up in the mountains of Vermont and New Hampshire. One of the mountains where we would ski requires a long mountain drive on the Kancamagus Highway, known for its scenic views and regular closures due to ice and avalanche warnings. Using photos from these beautiful drives, I set the Kombi van on a snowy bend, challenging myself to texture and light a high altitude winter scene.
